RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AND MEDIATION STUDIES CENTRE - RJMSC
The Study Centre on Restorative Justice and Mediation (CesGReM) was established on October 6th 2014 in order to promote research, training and dissemination of knowledge in the field of restorative justice, mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). It carries out and promotes activities, research projects and training courses.
The Centre is located at the Department of Law, Economics and Culture, University of Insubria, the first to set up in Italy the “Restorative justice and penal mediation” course within the Law faculty in 2005. The Centre is chaired by Grazia Mannozzi, Professor of Criminal Law and of Restorative Justice and penal mediation.
The Centre’s activities include: the organization of conferences, seminars, meetings, reading circles, the promotion of Summer schools and Winter schools (also in collaboration with REDESM Study Centre), as well as the realization of scientific-video. The Centre also promotes training courses on restorative justice for non-profit organisations, associations, schools and universities. At the University of Insubria, the Centre collaborates in the Managerial Humanism Project.
The goals of the activities organised by CeSGReM are: fostering a deeper understanding of the most pressing issues in the field of conflict resolutions, promoting a new juridical culture in a pluralistic world, promoting the awareness of victims’ rights, encouraging a dialogue between judicial power, attorneys, public agencies, corporations, nonprofit organisations, mediators and scholars of human sciences, also to exchange best practices.
Since October 2016 the CeSGReM Annual Readings were launched, the first of which was delivered by Dr. Michael Kilchling, Chair of the European Forum for Restorative Justice.
