Silvia Sacchi graduated with honor in Biological Sciences at the University of Milan. Subsequently she earned a Ph.D. in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology at the Structural and Functional Department of the University of Insubria (Varese), with the research project: In vitro evolution of flavooxidases: a rational and irrational design approach. Between 1994 and 2000, Silvia Sacchi deserved several research fellowships from Biosensori S.p.A, Sartorious S.p.A., the Consorzio Milano Ricerche and from the University of Insubria. Starting from 2003 she worked as a post-doc fellow at the Biotechnology and Molecular Sciences Department of the University of Insubria, in 2005 in the Laboratory of Dr. Jean-Perre Mothet (Laboratoire de Neurobiologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire, Istitute Fédératif de Neurobiologie Alfred Fessard, Gif-sur-Yvette) and again, from 2006 to 2008, at the University of Insubria (functional Post-genomics and Protein Engineering Laboratory), accomplishing her post-doctoral training in biochemistry, neurobiology and neurochemistry. During those years, Silvia Sacchi gained a number of research grants, fellowships and contracts from the Consorzio Interuniversitario per le Biotecnologie (CIB), the Biotechnology and Molecular Sciences Department and from Antibioticos S.p.A.

Moreover, Silvia Sacchi has been awarded with the following prizes:
September 2003: National Research Award for the best PhD thesis on Protein Structure and Function from the Italian Biochemical and Molecular Biology Society.
September 2004: Young Researcher Awards 2004 from the Consorzio Interuniversitario Biotecnologie.
2009- Best Young Researcher” Award 2009 from Centro Insubre di Biotecnologie per la salute Umana, University of Insubria
 

From 2005 she is a member of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB).

From 2009 Silvia Sacchi is Research Associate at the Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Sciences at the University of Insubria (Varese). From October 1st 2011 she join the neo-constituted Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences in the same university. In 2013 she applied to the National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor in General Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (05/E1) and Molecular Biology (05/E02), gaining the qualification in both disciplines. From march 2017 she is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology.

Along these years, Silvia Sacchi established different international collaborations. She published 42 papers on International peer-review journals, 6 invited publications on books and of 58 symposium proceedings. She gave a total of 9 oral communications at national and international meetings (she was invited-speaker in 4 of them).
